Genevieve's Story
Contemporary Aboriginal artist Genevieve Kemarre Loy lives and works at Mosquito Bore with her family. Here she paints with her auntie Elizabeth Kngwarrey Kunoth whose work is also exhibited and collected in Australia and world wide. Since her father Cowboy Louie Pwerl’s death in 2021 she has provided the strength within the Loy family ensuring the maintenance of bush traditions and strong bonds within the family.
She has been exhibiting her artwork for over fifteen years including exhibitions in France and Russia as well as major galleries across Australia. Genevieve’s works depict the flora and fauna of her homeland and the stories associated with its creation. For example, one recurring theme in her paintings is the tracks made by the bush turkey as it searches out bush foods and water across a vast land.
